The following recipe is for braided egg bread and mineral water.
Serbian sweet braided egg bread has hard-cooked eggs dyed red resting on top the braid. Red symbolizes the Lepenski Vir River of life, giving blood and death regenerative endowments. The Stone Age Fish Goddess (Regenerative) percept and recipe are carried on within the Serbian Orthodox religion, where red still represents the blood of Christ, and the eggs are a universal symbol of Christ's resurrection. Serbian Orthodox devotees also shape the dough into a cross with the red-dyed egg at the intersection. The Stone Age cross iconizes the crossing of truncated trees, the intersection of life and death. This recipe’s symbolic representations in modern life show the double binding of two religions mixed into current father sky god religious cults.
For this recipe, use all organic materials, preferably home-grown or from within 50 miles of your residence.
½ cup cream
½ stick butter
Zest of 1 lemon
2 teaspoons plus 2/3 cup sugar
1 package active dry yeast
¼ cup very warm water
¾ teaspoon salt
½ cup flour plus additional for dusting and shaping
5 large egg yolks & 2 whole large eggs
5 hard-cooked eggs, dyed red
Place heat cream, vanilla, and butter in a small saucepan on low heat. Melt butter. Dissolve sugar and yeast in warm water for 15 minutes. Add flour, salt, 2/3 cup sugar, and lemon zest. Add egg yolks, 1 whole egg, then cream and yeast mixture. Mix well until dough is sticky to the touch. Knead, until smooth (dough is elastic), and add more flour as needed while kneading by hand. Grease bowl and place dough in it, coating dough with the oil. Let rise until double in size. Once risen, punch dough down and then divide into three portions. Shape each piece into a rope. Line the baking sheet with parchment, braiding the pieces. Take the red dyed egg and place on dough so as to create a cradle. Pre-heat oven to 350 and cover the bread with a towel. Let rise for no more than twenty minutes. Beat remaining whole egg and brush top of braid.
Once out of the oven, sprinkle with mineral water, chanting wisdom and enlightenment. Serve with ghee (clarified butter) and homemade jam.
